Exploration, Excitement and Experiences is what the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is all about.

And no, you don’t have to be “advanced” to take it – it’s designed to follow on from the PADI Open Water Diver course. The experienced Instructors at Awesome Scuba will help increase your scuba skills and introduce you to amazing new diving experiences enabling you to become very comfortable in the water.

This is a great way to get more dives under your belt while continuing to learn under the supervision of your PADI instructor.

Once enrolled in the course we will post you a pack containing your book, adventure slate and a few other goodies, all of which are yours to keep. The pack includes all the information you need to complete your self study.

Course Content

For the core part of this course you will learn about:

• Underwater navigation
• Deeper water diving  (typically anywhere from 18-30 metres)

And then you can choose* another three dives from:

Adventure Dives available to scuba divers 10 years old and older:

• AWARE-Fish Identification
• Underwater Naturalist
• Boat Diver
• Underwater Navigator
• Peak Performance Buoyancy
• Underwater Photography

Additional Adventure Dives available to scuba divers 12 years old and older:

• Altitude Diver
• Multilevel Diver
• Deep Diver
• Night Diver
• Diver Propulsion Vehicle
• Search and Recovery Diver
• Drift Diver
• Dry Suit Diver
• Wreck Diver

(* Choice of dives may be limited by location and resources, eg. you cannot do an alpine dive if the course is based in the sea.)

One reason you’ll love the Advanced Open Water Diver course is that you and your instructor choose from 15 types of Adventure Dives to complete your course. You can try your hand at digital underwater photography, wreck diving, night diving, peak performance buoyancy and much more.

PADI Adventure Dives can also count towards PADI Specialty Diver certifications. For example, if you liked your Wreck Adventure Dive so much that you wanted to take a complete PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course, your Wreck Adventure Dive can count as the first dive of that specialty.

Awesome Scuba provides all of the equipment needed for our courses we do however recommend as a minimum that you have your own mask, snorkel and fins.

Course Requirements

To take this course, you must:

1. Be a PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organisation)
2. Be 15 years or older (12 for Junior Advanced Open Water Diver)
3. Have a “fit to dive” medical signed by your local doctor before starting your course, Dive Medical (PDF 40 KB).
4. Sign an Awesome Scuba Learning Agreement, Learning Agreement (PDF 130 KB).

After you have finished your PADI Advanced Open Water Course why not try some specialities? Once you have completed five specialties Awesome Scuba will certify you as a PADI Master Scuba Diver for Free.
